Arta Gallery This Month

Through the rest of this month my friend David Adshade will be showing some of his work at Toronto's Arta Gallery in the Distillery District. The opening reception is tonight. Check it out.
I shot quite a few of his paintings for him and it was a challenge. This kind of photography isn't something I specialize in and I quickly learned each painting is like a different person that needs to be lit in a different way. This is no doubt especially true of David's paintings since he uses many non-standard materials: metallic paint, plaster, and even rust. Yes, actual rust. And one thing that really can't be conveyed online is that these paintings are big: over six feet across. In person you also get a much better sense of their texture.
