Knock on wood, I've never had any camera gear stolen. If you have been a victim this Stolen Camera Finder compares the serial numbers embedded in exif data so you at least have a shot at tracking down the responsible scumbag online. Assuming he posts pictures somewhere, that is. Heck, it's worth trying.

Too bad there's no online SWAT team function to actually recover the camera...
