Historic Photos of Toronto

By fluke the other day I found the City of Toronto's online catalogue of digitized photographs. It's not obvious right away how to see the images:  you must first pick a series that interests you, then click on the link that says 'browse' and then look for the files with a tiny camera beside them. What's more if you're anything like me I strongly advise you not to go the page in the first place because you can waste hours and hours going through this stuff. Take heed as well that you need permission from the city to post even public domain images you find here.

One cool little note: you might think image 48 in the subseries 'Miscellaneous' is incorrectly labelled as being taken in 1916 since it shows a theatre marquee featuring Tyrone Power. The label is right though, because the marquee doesn't refer to Tyrone Power movie star of the 1940's, it refers to his theatre actor father Tyrone Power, Sr!
