Yet another development in what seems like an ever-expanding war against photographers: the Long Beach Chief of Police announces that photographers will be detained by his officers if they're taking images 'without apparent esthetic value.' I guess this means any photogs heading to Long Beach should first have their portfolio carefully vetted by a panel of museum curators so they know whether they measure up. No word yet on what major photographic styles members of the local police union favor.
