The Greatest Paparazzo Of Them All

Last night I happened to catch Smash His Camera on the CBC, an award-winning documentary about uber-celebrity-stalking photographer Ron Galella.  It's extremely well done.  Galella is just pretty much irresistible, he so clearly loves and excels at his work  and has the image archives to prove it, with shots of everyone from Sinatra to Brangelina.  The film also does a good job of outlining the First Amendment legal issues involved with Galella's trade by dealing in depth with the famous lawsuit brought against him by Jackie Onasis.

Even if you hate all paparazzi - or think you do - the doc is well worth watching.  One thing (and there aren't many) the CBC is good at is repeating programs, so check your local listings.  The film was shown on HBO in the US, so if you're south of the border you might be able to see it on there.
